These are recordings of a 24-hours seminar from the Advanced Herbalism program at the North American Institute of Medical Herbalism. The lectures first cover herbal actions as the foundation of formulation, and then describe in detail the building blocks of a formula -- first simple modification of one or more herbs by combination in pairs or triplets, and then adding other pairs or herbal modifiers to individualize the formula for a patient. Includes a resources data disk with supplemental readings and texts, and a 30-page database of pairs and triplets used over a 150 year period in the Physiomedicalist tradition in North America and Great Britain.

The audio CDs are in .wav format, and the data files are in Adobe Acrobat format. The Audio CDs have been edited, mastered, and tracked for easy study.

Each lesson includes an average or 3 hours of lecture and 3 hours of projects.

Lesson 2. Clinical definitions of herbal actions

    everything I was missing

Posted by Lori on 14th Apr 2018

Advanced herbal formulations filled in the gaps I didn't know existed in my herbal education. Paul Bergner covers common pairs and formulas from western and TCM herbal traditions, teaching how to think through and customize herbal formulas for your clients. My only wish is that I had taken it sooner in my studies.

    Pathway to better health

I find the combination of the notes, powerpoint and lecture series (especially since they are on CD's) as well as the projects to be an excellent learning tool. Then when you add the readings you really begin to appreciate the formulations and techniques to develop healing and wellness.
