Nutritive Herbs - The Role of Herbs in Nutrition

Paul Bergner 2019

90 minutes 1.5 CEU credit

Mineral and trace element components of medicinal plants  are the "forgotten constituents" in contemporary herbalism. Yet in an overall therapeutic plan for the exhausted and malnourished modern patient, they may be a critical and essential missing link for recovery. We will discuss the roles of mineral and trace elements, their disappearance from the American diet in the last 50 years, and forms and recipes from the materia medica to assist in their restoration. We will also describe plant components to support the microbiome or provide flavonoids and antioxidants as nutrition, and describe preparation and deliver methods to optimize nutrition.
